Country singer/songwriter, Bobby Kendrick, released a new single “I’m No Angel,” featuring Alyssa Scott, on April 28th, 2021. Originally from California, Kendrick moved to Nashville in 2019 to further pursue his career in music. You hear his California roots in his songs as you listen, you can imagine yourself lying on a beach while the waves crash on the shore as his music fills the air.
“I’m No Angel” is a wonderful tune, starting out with very pretty acoustic guitar playing. The chord progression sets the tone of the song perfectly, it’s a slow, comforting melody. Once Kendrick begins to sing the music consumes you, it puts you at ease, makes you forget your worries and just want to listen to the music. Kendrick has a wonderful voice that is able to capture the raw emotions of his music. I love the harmonies between Kendrick and Scott, they both have beautiful voices that fit perfectly with the country vibe of the song. Kendrick sings about how we as humans aren’t perfect, sometimes we have struggles that we have to work hard to fix. It’s alright to make mistakes, it’s only natural, but we have to pick ourselves up and carry on. At the end of the day we are only human but as long as we try our best to be the best person we can possibly be then we should be proud and happy with the people we are. It is a wonderful message and one that sometimes we do need to remind ourselves of.
