Dream Pop musician, Chris Koehn, has released a new single “Live Alive” on April 16th, 2021. This is Koehn’s third single release from his new EP Live From Home.
Koehn first started making music following the passing of his brother, his music was a way for him to grieve. Now, he uses his music as a platform to spread awareness that life is precious and we need to make every moment count. “Live Alive” continues to follow that theme. It’s about being awake and living/enjoying the present. Sometimes we don’t value life until we experience sickness or a near-death event to really appreciate the life we have. Especially during this time with the pandemic, people have really had time to think about what they have and appreciate every little thing. Koehn does such a great job on this track from a musical perspective. He plays all of the instruments, from guitar to drums to keyboards to harmonica and it is all done so beautifully. The lyrics hold real meaning, talking about making the most of the time we have and that death can come at any moment, we need to live our lives to the fullest. The star for me in “Live Alive” is the instrumental music. There is a really cool, yet simple, guitar riff at the beginning of the song that provides lots of energy and rhythm to the track. I love the harmonica, it adds a folk vibe to the song that is very comforting and uplifting.
