Wanna One Postpones Pre-Recording For 2021 MAMA Reunion After Member’s Staff Tests Positive For COVID-19
Wanna One has postponed filming for the 2021 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) after one of the members’ staff tested positive for COVID-19.
On December 10, Wanna One was in the midst of rehearsing for their highly-anticipated 2021 MAMA reunion performance when a staff member for one of the artists was unexpectedly diagnosed with COVID-19. The rehearsal was immediately halted, and the fans who had been waiting to attend the pre-recording of the performance were sent home.
Mnet has since released the following statement:
A staff member for one of the artists who participated in the December 10 rehearsal for the 2021 MAMA pre-recording has been diagnosed with COVID-19. Therefore, for the safety of all the artists and staff, we halted the rehearsal, and all of the audience members who were waiting to be admitted were sent home.
As a precautionary measure, we plan to test all the staff members and artists who participated in the rehearsal for COVID-19. We have already finished disinfecting the area where the COVID-19 patient remained [during rehearsal].
We will strictly adhere to the government’s guidelines for the prevention of the spread of COVID-19, and we will do our utmost to ensure that the event can be held safely.
The 2021 MAMA is scheduled to take place on December 11 at 6 p.m. KST.
